how to upgrade linux install?
« on: February 13, 2015, 06:49:42 PM »
I got huntercoin as part of an automated install of p2pool and merged coins last fall, so now i need to upgrade  :-[
Since my Linux admin skills are 2 decades out of date, it's not obvious to me how to do that.  I looked around the website, read the compile guide, searched here, and still need help.
Is there an upgrade howto?

Thanx,
j

where was the automated install from?

if you have a huntercoin folder with all the source in it, then cd to that directory (normally in home folder?)
and assuming you have all the correct dependencies -

Code: [Select]
cd huntercoin
git pull https://github.com/chronokings/huntercoin
cd src
make clean
make

that's basically all i do to update on linux.

i ran the install script http://bitcoin.kyros.info/install-merged-mining.sh on  14 Dec 2014.  if the "--compile" option is specified, the script creates a coin_source directory, downloads source to coin-named subdirs, compiles from there, then copies the binaries to ~/bin.

i still consider the crafting of bash scripts an arcane art, and i never really grokked grep, in spite of using it daily for years back in the early 90s.

after reading over the script, i see that it checks if already installed and updates if so.

update compiled and running (catching up).
